Water damage typically is the result of leaking water and unchecked moisture levels. The damage is detrimental over time. Here are some preventative measures you can take to protect your home from water damage.
- Gutter cleaning. Make sure to get your gutters cleaned at least once or twice per year.
- Move rain runoff away from foundation. You can purchase downspout extensions to prevent rainwater from leaking into foundation cracks. Water damage in your foundation can cause severe damage.
- Sump pump maintenance. Regularly check on your sump pump. It checks for water levels in the basement and pumps out the excess water. It is important for maintaining moisture in a home.
